Why cork on walls
Cork holds roughly 200 million air cells per cubic inch, absorbing airborne sound rather than reflecting it, and it is naturally hypoallergenic; the suberin in the bark resists mold, mildew, and dust mites with no chemical treatment and no VOC off-gassing. The bark is stripped every nine years and the tree is never cut.
